InvestorMultimodal or balanced analgesia uses a combination of various analgesic modalitities concurrently. Balanced analgesia typically employs an opioid as well as an NSAID, acetaminophen (Paracetamol) and/or local anaesthetic at the time of surgery. By acting on multiple points in the pathway of pain, balanced analgesia is more effective than any agent by itself. Additionally by using multiple types of analgesics, a lower dose of any individual agent may be used, thereby minimizing the adverse effects associated with that agent. The result is better analgesia with fewer side effects.

Both acetaminophen (paracetamol) and NSAIDs have been demonstrated to reduce pain scores and demand for opioids when used concurrently with opioids. Decreasing the amount of opioid used will decrease the potential for sedation, mental clouding, respiratory depression and abuse. With effective analgesia, patients will have improved mobility and quicker rehabilitation. Therefore a fixed dose combination of Tramadol, Paracetamol, Caffeine and Taurine would go a long way in relieving acute or chronic moderate to moderately severe pain. Asque is an analgesic combination containing Tramadol, Paracetamol, Caffeine and Taurine meant for the management of moderate to moderately severe pain.
